Research Director

Carlos Apesteguía is Full Professor of the National University of Litoral (UNL) at the School of Chemical Engineering (FIQ) and Member of the CONICET's Research Staff at the Institute of Research on Catalysis and Petrochemistry (INCAPE), Santa Fe. He received his Chemical Engineer degree from UNL and is Docteur Ingenieur of the University of Poitiers, France. He was a 1991-1992 Visiting Professor at Corporate Research Laboratories, Exxon Research and Engineering Co., New Jersey, USA. He was the President of the Iberoamerican Federation of Catalysis Societies (1999-2004) and of the Argentine Catalysis Society (1996-2003). Professor Apesteguía has received a variety of awards and honors in recognition for his academic achievements. He received the Houssay Award 2007 from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Argentina; the Engineering Award 2008 from the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of Argentina; the “Ing. Luis Huergo” 2007 Prize from the National Academy of Engineering, and the Career Trajectory Award, 2012, from the Iberoamerican Catalysis Society. His current research projects include the development of novel catalytic materials for the synthesis of fine chemicals and the valorization of bioresources.
